Sam Mewis Scores 2 Goals in World Cup Debut !

The Women's World Cup kicked off last week and it's been a fantastic tournament so far. The game's have been close, and many are saying this is the one of the most competitive world cups in recent memory. Everyone here in the United States had been eagerly awaiting the USA's opening match against Thailand, and the game did not dissapoint in the slightest!

Some people were questioning how the reigning champions would fair in this World Cup with the target they had on their back, but after watching the US dismantle Thailand it looks like they're coming into this World Cup with the mentality to repeat as champions.

This World Cup is extra special this year for Scorpions SC as we have our very own Sam Mewis representing our club and Massachusettes as one of the members of the WC roster. Sam has played an integral part in the qualification and lead up to the World Cup for the USA, which ultimately led her to starting today's game in her World Cup debut.

Sam has never been afraid of the big stage and that certainly didn't change today. She was able to tally two goals and help the USA to a 13-0 win over Thailand; the biggest margin of victory EVER at the World Cup.

We are SO PROUD of Sam and all her accomplishments and we can't wait to watch her play again as the World Cup progresses. She's an inspiration to all of the girls in our club and we wish her and the rest of the team the best of luck as they try to become World Champions!
